In the early afternoon yesterday Station 32 along with 31 and 40 were alerted to a report of a mulch fire on East Strack Drive. Deputy 32 arrived to find a large mulch pile on fire spreading rapidly and quickly added the next 4 tankers for water. Engine 31 arrived and lead off with their deck gun knocking down the bulk of the fire. As additional units arrived crews worked to hit hotspots employing two 1 3/4 lines. Tower 31 was soon added to the box for the aerial master stream. With water supply established via 3" line from Attack 32 and a tanker fill site from Wagon 31 both located at a neighboring pond the Tower was placed in service knocking down hot spots while the pile was being worked with on site equipment to ensure any fire deep into the mulch was extinguished. With the fire extinguished and crews satisfied all hotspots were addressed the box was placed back in service. Cause of the fire was determined to be the burning of trash near the pile. With dry conditions continuing we remind you that Lebanon county is in a #Burnban Big thanks to all our mutual aid partners for their assistance in this incident: |
